Grooming for doodles and double coats
Barnt Green sits at the foot of the Lickey Hills, close to the Bilberry and Beacon paths. We offer full grooms for doodles and other non-shedding crosses, plus de-shedding for retrievers, shepherds, huskies and other double-coated dogs.
De-shedding and full grooms
Our emphasis for this village is de-shedding: bathing with a coat treatment, then blasting and raking the loose undercoat out until the coat lies flat again. For a shepherd or a retriever it removes a startling amount of hair and cuts indoor shedding for weeks. It is also why we refuse to clip a double coat short — the guard hairs never come back the same, and the dog loses its insulation against both heat and cold.
Doodles and other non-shedding crosses need the other route: a booked full groom from £40 on a tight cycle, with the coat brushed right through to the skin, plus nails from £10 and ear cleaning from our add-ons. Start young dogs on puppy grooming so brushing is never a fight, and we can add teeth cleaning from £40. Long-haired cats and small pets are covered by cat and small animal grooming, guinea pigs from £25. Price varies by breed, coat and behaviour.

Planning your first de-shedding visit
- Allow time for drying and raking when you bring a large double-coated dog.
- Free parking directly outside on Foredrift Close.
- Tell us how much your dog is shedding indoors; it tells us how aggressive the de-shed needs to be.
- Bring your usual brush if you want us to show you how to use it properly at home.
- If a doodle coat has matted to the skin we will show you before deciding on a length.
